Learn how to start planting in this hands-on, budget-friendly gardening workshop designed to help your family have fun together learning how to grow your own food. This all-ages class gives you the knowledge and skills to get started, no matter where you live – you can even learn how to garden on an apartment balcony. The 90-minute workshop takes place at a Fort Worth garden center and includes a hands-on demonstration on how to start your own seeds. You will take home with you 3 vegetable starter plants (4 inch pots) and also bring home 2 pots (4 inch) which you learned to plant with starter mix and recommended plant seed varieties – including some heirloom varieties.

Gardening workshop topics

You’ll learn not just HOW to plant but also very importantly WHEN to plant.  You will learn how to stage your plantings for a longer harvest, with ideas for planting for a continuous harvest.

James Samudio, your host, is passionate about sharing his decades of knowledge and bring gardening to his community.  He believes gardening and food preparation with your family is a key to better health for both you and your community.

He will also discuss:

  • How to integrate vegetables into an existing flower garden.
  • Aeroponic tower gardening.
  • Best vegetables for preserving.
  • Sharing the harvest, how to build a community harvest with your friends and neighbors for a participative harvest.

Your speaker welcomes your gardening questions and encourages discussion on your ideas on sharing the harvest for a better world.
