Have a budding beekeeper? Want to teach your kids more about the insect world? Curious about how an ag exemption works for beekeeping on your own property? Come meet Delve’s official beekeeper, Jeremy Campbell, of We Bee Keepin’ at this field trip in Coppell October 2 from 2 to 4 pm.

Jeremy brings his mobile hive (completely enclosed) of bees for kiddos and adults alike to get to know the bees up close and personal. He also brings real-life beekeeping equipment to demonstrate, educational lifecycle models, and a great way of speaking with kids to explain how bees work.

You can also sample 3 types of honey if desired – taste the differences and discuss why the look and taste as they do.

Leading Expert in Beekeeping

Jeremy has over a decade of experience with beekeeping and has worked with dozens of bee colonies and organizations across the DFW area – and even spent a season in Australia working with queen breeders. He also has collaborated with the nonprofit Bee Informed Partnership Inc. to improve honey bee health through data-driven research.

He works with local networks of beekeepers, leads beekeeping education classes, and has mentored many new beekeepers along the way.

But beyond being just knowledgeable, he’s also an engaging and entertaining presenter for all ages – and just a really nice guy who loves bees, and loves to share his passion with others.

What You’ll Learn

Conversation will be shaped around group questions, but common topics include the life cycle of a bee, pollination, how honey is made, what beekeepers do, and what to do if you encounter bees.

Honey tastings cover the flavor profile of multiple honeys and what makes them taste that way, explained in a way that fits your family’s age and interest.

Experience Logistics

This experience is being held in a room of the Coppell CORE rec center. It is come-and-go style for 2 hours, and you’re welcome to come camp out the full time if you like (other families have been known to hang out at his vendor booth for hours asking questions and watching the bees). There will also be coloring sheets available for little children.

This was our 1st field trip with DFW Homeschoolers. My daughter enjoyed it. It was great that it wasn’t too far from home.
