Join us at Conundrum Farms for a spooktacular homeschool field trip this Halloween season! Dive into the mysteries of fall with a festive, garden-based science exploration designed for families and learners of all ages. Our 2-hour adventure is packed with hands-on activities that blend the spirit of Halloween with fascinating scientific principles.

Activities Include:

  • Pickling Potions: Discover the science of preservation and fermentation by creating your own “pickling potions.” This fun activity doubles as a way to learn about the chemical processes that keep our harvests edible longer.
  • Decomposing Pumpkins: Observe the life cycle of a pumpkin in fast-forward. We’ll explore decomposition and discuss the tiny organisms that turn our jack-o’-lanterns back into soil.
  • Vegetable Vampires: Delve into the wonders of capillary action with our “vegetable vampires” experiment to demonstrate how plants transport water and nutrients.

Audience: This event is perfect for families and students of all ages. To ensure safety and provide personalized attention, we require at least one adult for every two small children, or three older children. Please note that adults do need tickets. This event is structured to encourage family participation, and all attendees age 4+ will receive materials.

Key Details:

  • Safety First: Engaging and safe educational experiences are our top priority. All experiments and activities are designed to be kid-friendly with adult supervision.
  • All-inclusive Fun: Whether you’re a budding young scientist or a seasoned learner, there’s something intriguing for everyone. Our activities are tailored to entertain and educate across all age groups.
  • Interactive Learning: Each activity is interactive, encouraging participants to touch, do, and question as they learn about the natural world through the lens of science.

Additional Information:

  • Clothing: Please dress according to the weather, as all activities will take place outdoors in our gardens.
  • Registration: Advance registration is required to ensure we have enough materials for all participants.
  • Refreshments: Please bring a water bottle. Light seasonal refreshments will be available to enjoy at the end of the trip.

Join us for a day of exploration and fun at Conundrum Farms where science meets the spirit of Halloween!

Conundrum Farms

Just 15 minutes from downtown, where the city skyline fades into the Fort Worth Prairie Park, sits Conundrum Farms. A thriving, regenerative, no-till, organic farm, that grows a variety of healthy produce through the shared work of our non-profit partners, supporters and volunteers.

But Conundrum Farms is not just about cultivating crops; it is also about cultivating connections. Connections with the earth, nature, food, and most importantly, each other. Conundrum Farms is that “third place” - not home, not work, but a place where people can meet, talk and laugh together while growing healthy food, fostering friendships, and rediscovering the simple joy of belonging.
