Product Description
[DRAFT LISTING – NO ORDERS WILL BE FULFILLED AT THIS TIME] Learn about Kunekune pigs and piglets, a friendly and docile grazing pig from New Zealand. The Halbert farm specializes in this rare breed (pronounced ‘cooney-cooney’), and offers a hands-on, educational, and memorable experience in this 60-minute tour. You will learn about both Kunekune pigs and life on the Halbert Farm.
First you’ll meet Ripley the “instafamous” hand raised pig, who lives in the house with the Halbert family. Based on your group’s ages and comfort level, you will get to pet and interact with pigs of various ages. Your group will get to feed our best-behaved pigs cucumbers and carrots. These unique pigs know how to sit for treats. There is also the opportunity to meet other pigs through the fence but not feed them.
Please be mindful that children must know not to chase or hit the animals. Pigs are extremely smart and sensitive and some came to the farm from an unloved previous life and are still learning to trust humans. This is also for your safety.
The tour is outside; come dressed to get dirty. Mud boots (rain boots, hiking boots, etc) are great options. Long pants work best as you may walk in tall grass in the pastures.
Refreshments included: Variety of chips and cookie type snacks as well as water & Gatorade.
The tour lasts 60 minutes and is a dedicated experience for visitors ages 10 years and older for $25 per person.
