Product Description
See rotational grazing in action on a Texas homestead. This tour also includes the chance for kids to pet and interact with lots of different animals including cows, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and pigs. Great for both beginner and established farmers or ranchers interested in learning about this regenerative farming technique, as well as casual visitors who just love interacting with animals and want to learn more about raising them.
On the tour, the homestead owner will explain the concept of rotational grazing, and how it works from a macro perspective in providing high quality, nutrient dense food in a regenerative way. This technique also minimizes risk of parasites and allows for more natural food production. During this event, the farm owner will rotate all of the animals, so you will see the actual rotation in practice.
You’ll discuss some of the day-to-day logistics of how to implement rotational grazing and have a chance to ask questions that would apply to your farm or ranch (if you have one). Specific discussion will depend on group interest. Popular topics tend to include:
- managing fencing
- managing shade, wind and temperatures for the animals
- managing soil quality
- producing livestock for meat
- what makes this farm different from larger and more commercial farms
- how to maximize production
This experience lasts approximately 2 hours. It involves a significant amount of walking, though can accommodate those needing to walk slowly. All ages welcome, though parents must closely supervise children 12 and under. Carried babies are free. This tour can accommodate larger groups, so schools or organizations are welcome.
Make your tour a farm-to-table dining experience by adding on a bowl of the ranch’s famous soups – specific types will be confirmed upon booking based on current inventory. If adding this option, make sure to include how many bowls you’d like to order for your group.
Filtered well water will be provided, and products from the farm will be available for purchase. Larger groups can request additional food or beverage options to be available for additional fees, but requests must be made and confirmed in advance.
