Explore country living and feed alpacas – 60+ adorable Huacaya alpacas! – and their friends at Legendary Alpacas Ranch in Maypearl, Texas, about a 45 minute drive south from Dallas or Fort Worth. Your 90-minute tour allows you to meet and feed the alpacas and other animals, and your tour is personally guided by the ranch owner, who is dedicated to educating and sharing her passion with her community about these amazing creatures.
Feed alpacas and learn about ranch life
This experience will introduce you to the alpacas, teach you basic alpaca care, and demonstrate the incredible versatile uses of their fleece. You also will have a special one-on-one alpaca excursion, where you can learn all about haltering, leading and walking your alpaca. You also will learn basic handling, be able to feed alpacas, and have plenty of photo opportunities. Alpacas are naturally gentle and curious creatures, and this tour is great for all ages.
Not only will you meet the alpacas, you also can meet many other animals – and brush up on your animal vocabulary – including a herd of horses, a clutch of chickens, a rasp of guinea hens, and a gang of turkeys. Tours can be customized to meet your group’s needs.
You’ll also learn how the owner works to care for the land and animals using sustainable ranching practices. Sustainable ranch practices include a composting program recycling the animal waste (they call ‘poop beans’, using the compost in their gardens as well as offering it for sale. The alpaca fleece is used to create an array of unique product offerings you can check out in their onsite store.
The tour cost is $90 for a group of 1-5 people. Each additional person is $10 per person.
