Product Description
Tour a community garden tackling food distribution challenges in the underserved community of east Dallas and beyond. You and your kids will be led by an educator through a curriculum designed for this event.
Learn how this innovative urban garden provides vegetables (and soon a fruit tree harvest too) in an area considered to be a food desert. GROW North Texas along with community volunteers using innovative ideas are tackling food distribution in this community in a relatively small space adjacent to a church now serving as White Rock UMC’s second campus. This garden’s greens are used in a monthly food distribution to the community which has provided over 15 thousand pounds of food. They also have a farm stand onsite as well as a gardening space allotment for neighbors who want to garden themselves.
Share a sense of neighbors inspiring and empowering their community to improve far east Dallas, calling to mind a quote from Coretta Scott King,”The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members”.
