Rooted in Faith: How Sister Grove Farm Cultivates Creation Care and Spiritual Renewal

Local Guides

A North Texas farm where faith, ecology, and hospitality grow side by side.

When Sarah and Rodney Macias began restoring a 149-acre Blackland Prairie along Sister Grove Creek, they weren’t just farming. They were answering a call.

Sister Grove Farm in Van Alstyne, Texas, is many things: a working regenerative farm, a historical landmark, and a peaceful place to walk the land. But at its heart, it is a sanctuary—shaped by a deep sense of spiritual purpose and rooted in what Sarah describes as the Christian practice of creation care.

  1. “What’s emerging is a place of healing and sanctuary, rooted in the Christian practice of creation care and welcome,” Sarah writes. “We are trying to hold space for those seeking rest and renewal—those who come weary, curious, or full of hope.”

A Place That Honors Both Land and Spirit

Set on ancestral lands of the Wichita people and anchored by an 1859 farmhouse, the farm honors history while restoring prairie, soil, and habitat. But Sister Grove is more than a place of environmental renewal—it’s a place of spiritual reflection and reconnection.

Holistic grazing practices, native grasses, and mobile flocks work in tandem with the rhythms of rest and renewal that echo Sabbath values. Visitors are invited to consider how ecological and spiritual restoration often go hand in hand.

This is not a place of preaching. It’s a place of practice.
