"So why farms?" people ask.
Why visit farms instead of going out to a movie, or an arcade ... or any of the other million ways to spend a Saturday with friends, an adventure with the kids, or a novel date?
It's a good question. We like doing all those other things, too ... so why spend some of your limited time and dollars on farms instead?
The reason we started Delve is because, at the end of the day, visiting farms MATTERS.
When you see the latest blockbuster, or play the latest video game, you do have fun (if it wasn't terrible!). But then ... that's it.
The movie studio doesn't register much beyond another body in a seat. And nobody at the arcade is going to remember your name or anything about your life. You might remember a fleeting feeling or have a single conversation at dinner afterward, but then you move on with your life, and rarely look back.
When you visit a farm, you connect with real people in the real world.
How it happens:
You are doing something physical. It might be mixing the milk to make cheese, hearing the bees buzz in the apiary, tasting a fresh daikon radish plucked straight from the ground.
You are sharing life stories with other people. Maybe the farmer who's guiding describes the feeling when the sun rises over the road as they drive to market on Saturdays. Or another member of the group shares their grandma's recipe for the garden tomatoes you're tasting. Or perhaps you talk about a pet rabbit you had as a child.
You are building core memories. An 8-year-old city kid holds a chicken for the first time, surprised how skinny it is under all those feathers. A 60-year-old gardener sees new ways to help nurture the plants they love. A 20-year-old college student walks through the day of a 70-year-old rural farmer, understanding for the first time how deeply they care about the cattle they raise for meat.
When you visit a farm, your dollars help individuals and small businesses - usually extremely hardworking people.
Your tickets booked on Delve support the people who help feed our society, who take care of the animals, and help grow the world around us. They're the ones up before dawn to do chores and prep for markets, out in the cold to crack ice for livestock, and digging in the dirt to produce your next incredible meal.
You may not even be aware of what's available at farms near you.
With Delve, we strive to help you uncover a world of adventure, often right around you - or maybe as a bonus layer of exploration for your next trip.
