How Delve Experiences Support Hands-On Learning and TEKS Goals in DFW

Bringing classroom concepts to life through real-world exploration

At Delve, we believe that curiosity is the gateway to understanding—and that the best learning doesn’t always happen at a desk. In the Dallas–Fort Worth area, we offer a growing collection of educational programs that support TEKS goals through hands-on, farm-based learning.

Some of our DFW experiences—like those at Ridglea Giving Garden and Opal’s Farm—are developed in collaboration with certified educators to directly support TEKS objectives. Others, like our private beekeeping sessions, offer strong natural reinforcement of key TEKS concepts through observation, inquiry, and real-world systems.

Whether you're planning a public school field trip, leading a homeschool group, or coordinating enrichment at a library or community center, we help connect your goals with experiences that reinforce what students are already learning in science, social studies, and beyond.

What TEKS-Aligned Learning Looks Like in Action

Below are a few DFW-area experiences that either directly support TEKS objectives through educator-designed programming—or provide meaningful reinforcement of TEKS-related concepts in science, sustainability, and agriculture. Here are a few popular programs that bring TEKS to life:

🐝 Honeybee Show-and-Tell (DFW Area)

Students observe a real (enclosed) beehive, test their observation skills, and explore tools of the trade—while learning about life cycles, ecosystems, and the role of pollinators in food systems.

TEKS Connection: Grade 2 Science – "Explain and demonstrate how some plants depend on other living things, including animals, for pollination and seed dispersal."

Why These Experiences Work

Delve programs aren’t just field trips. They’re designed to:

  1. 🧠 Encourage critical thinking and retention through sensory learning
  2. 👀 Support observation and evidence-based dialogue
  3. 🤲 Connect abstract concepts to real-world systems
  4. 🧩 Accommodate diverse learning styles and flexible curriculum goals

Because we work directly with educators, our experiences can be tailored to fit specific TEKS strands, age groups, and subject areas. And we’re always happy to help match your goals with the right partner farm or mobile experience.
