Interactive introduction to rotational grazing

Bowie, Texas

See rotational grazing in action on a Texas homestead. This tour also includes the chance for kids to pet and interact with lots of different animals including cows, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, and pigs. Great for both beginner and established farmers or ranchers interested in learning about this regenerative farming technique, as well as casual visitors who just love interacting with animals and want to learn more about raising them.

On the tour, the homestead owner will explain the concept of rotational grazing, and how it works from a macro perspective in providing high quality, nutrient dense food in a regenerative way. This technique also minimizes risk of parasites and allows for more natural food production. During this event, the farm owner will rotate all of the animals, so you will see the actual rotation in practice.

You’ll discuss some of the day-to-day logistics of how to implement rotational grazing and have a chance to ask questions that would apply to your farm or ranch (if you have one). Specific discussion will depend on group interest. Popular topics tend to include:

  • managing fencing
  • managing shade, wind and temperatures for the animals
  • managing soil quality
  • producing livestock for meat
  • what makes this farm different from larger and more commercial farms
  • how to maximize production

This experience lasts approximately 2 hours. It involves a significant amount of walking, though can accommodate those needing to walk slowly. All ages welcome, though parents must closely supervise children 12 and under. Carried babies are free. This tour can accommodate larger groups, so schools or organizations are welcome.

Make your tour a farm-to-table dining experience by adding on a bowl of the ranch’s famous soups – specific types will be confirmed upon booking based on current inventory. If adding this option, make sure to include how many bowls you’d like to order for your group.

Filtered well water will be provided, and products from the farm will be available for purchase. Larger groups can request additional food or beverage options to be available for additional fees, but requests must be made and confirmed in advance.

Interactive intro indeed! What fun to participate in the ranch’s grazing rotation: 5 fields and movement of livestock, including cows, goats & prancing kids (hilarious), heritage pigs, and poultry, Megan, homestead owner, shared her family’s heartwarming and hard-working story about how they are making a difference to the land, livestock and lives of consumers. Convenient booking and effective communication via Delve Experiences. Go!

We had the BEST experience at the farm! My favorite animal was the pigs. They’re so funny! Each animal has little sayings, such as, eating like a hog, and only by going and seeing them in action can you see how they really do earn these sayings. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable! The booking experience was easy peasy! I hope everyone can go and experience the rotational grazing tour in Bowie. What a blessing. We created memories that will last!

Reviving Real Foods Ranch is located on 75 acres in picturesque rolling hills of the old Oak Savannahs of North Texas. All animals and food are grown using sustainable and restorative practices, grass fed and pasture raised.

The farm is also working to add a new addition with the Texas Foothills Distillery/Brewery/Winery. Leftover water will go to the animals and spent grains will be fed to the pigs, allowing all products to stay on site.
